a type of allergic rhinitis that occurs at the same time every year, marked by acute conjunctivitis with lacrimation and itching, swelling of the nasal mucosa, sneezing, and often asthmatic symptoms. It is regarded as an anaphylactic or allergic condition excited by an allergen such as a pollen to which the individual is sensitized. Called also pollen allergy, seasonal allergic rhinitis, and pollinosis.
