||
||

| basinasal line | A line connecting the basion and the nasion. Synonym: nasobasilar line. (05 Mar 2000) |

| Becke line | <microscopy> When the liquid phase of a microscopical mount has arefractive index different from that of the solid phase, a line or narrow band of light can be observed around or just within the outlines of the specimen as the microscope tube is raised or lowered from its position of best focus. The presence of the line indicates the difference in index referred to, and its absence, there-fore, indicates similarity of index between the specimen and its mounting fluid. The Becke line is useful in determining the refractive index of transparent, microscopic particles. (05 Aug 1998) |
| bismuth line | A black zone on the free marginal gingiva, often the first sign of poisoning from prolonged parenteral administration of bismuth. (05 Mar 2000) |
| black line | The linea alba in pregnancy, which then becomes pigmented. Synonym: black line. (05 Mar 2000) |
| blue line | A bluish line along the free border of the gingiva, occurring in chronic heavy metal poisoning. (05 Mar 2000) |
| Bolton-nasion line | A roentgenographic cephalometric plane extending from the Bolton point to nasion. Synonym: Bolton-Broadbent plane, Bolton-nasion line, Bolton-nasion plane. (05 Mar 2000) |
| Brodel's bloodless line | Line running somewhat posterior to the lateral convex border of the kidney between anterior and posterior renal segments demarcating the areas of distribution of the anterior and posterior branches of the renal artery; it is in fact only relatively avascular. (05 Mar 2000) |
| Burton's line | A bluish line on the free border of the gingiva, occurring in lead poisoning. (05 Mar 2000) |
| Camper's line | The line running from the inferior border of the ala of the nose to the superior border of the tragus of the ear. (05 Mar 2000) |
| cantlie line | <radiology> Line connecting gall bladder bed to IVC, divides liver into right and left lobes see also: liver anatomy (12 Dec 1998) |
| Mach line | The apparent line of contrasting density bordering a soft tissue shadow on a radiograph; it is an optical illusion constructed by the observer's retina. (05 Mar 2000) |
| radiographic parallel line shadows | The images of bronchial walls, usually thickened; colloq., British. Synonym: radiographic parallel line shadows. (05 Mar 2000) |
| magnetically insulated transmission line | <radiobiology> Used to transport power efficiently in vacuum lines at very high power densities. Although the cathode is a space-charge limited electron emitter, the electron flow is confined by self-generated or applied magnetic fields. MITL's are used extensively in light-ion-driven inertial confinement fusion. (09 Oct 1997) |
