Many pens were produced with transparent barrels to be used as salesman's models to demonstrate internal working mechanisms. More recently, the clear pens have been produced for style rather than as sales demos, although these are still referred to as demos. Best known is the Pelikan 800 green demonstrator, now a highly collectible limited edition.
