| 설명 | 좁아진 심장동맥을 확장시키는 행위를 말한다. 심장동맥이란 심장에 혈액을 공급하는 동맥을 이르는 말로 심장 역시 근육이어서 혈액을 공급받아야 수축을 할 수가 있다. 심장동맥이 좁아질 경우에는 심장에 혈액의 공급이 없어져서 심장동맥병이라는 병을 일으킨다. 그래서 이 심장동맥확장술은 관상동맥질환의 치료에 이용이 된다. 대개 심장동맥확장술은 큰 동맥에 긴 관(카테터라고 한다)을 꼽아서 동맥을 따라 거꾸로 대동맥까지 이르게 하고 대동맥에서 심장동맥을 찾아서 심장동맥으로 긴관을 넣는다. 그리고는 좁아진 부위에 그 관의 끝을 위치시키고 여러 가지 기구(주로 풍선을 이용한다)를 이용해서 심장동맥을 넓힌다. 이 방법을 percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty(피부경유 혈관경유 심장동맥확장술)라 한다. |

| 설명 | 대뇌의 혈액을 공급하는 동맥. 대뇌의 앞부분의 혈액을 공급하는 앞대뇌동맥(anterior cerebral artery), 중간부위의 혈액을 공급하는 중간대뇌동맥(middle cerebral artery), 뒷부분의 혈액을 공급하는 뒤대뇌동맥(posterior cererbral artery)의 세 가지가 있다. 대뇌는 크게 두 가지 동맥에 의해서 혈액을 공급받는다. 하나는 속목동맥(internal carotid artery)이고 하나는 척추동맥(vertebral artery)이다. 이 동맥들은 좌-우로 두 개씩 쌍을 이루어 뇌에 혈액을 공급한다. 척추동맥은 대동맥에서 나와서 목뼈에 있는 가로돌기구멍을 통해서 머리쪽으로 올라온다. 그리고는 두 개의 좌우 척추가 한 개로 합쳐져서 바닥동맥라는 동맥을 이룬다. 목동맥은 대동맥에서 기시하여 속목동맥과 바깥목동맥으로 나뉜다(나뉘기 이전을 온목동맥이라 한다). 바깥목동맥은 얼굴과 뇌를 제외한 머리의 부위에 혈액을 공급하는 혈관이고, 속목동맥은 뇌에 혈액을 공급한다.   |

| coronary artery spasm | A sudden vasoconstriction of a coronary artery depriving the myocardium of blood flow and oxygen.
