| trigone of lateral ventricle | A triangular prominence of the floor of the lateral ventricle at the transition between occipital and temporal horn, continuous rostrally with the collateral eminence and, like the latter, caused by the deep penetration of the collateral sulcus from the ventral surface of the temporal lobe. Synonym: trigonum collaterale, trigone of lateral ventricle, trigonum ventriculi, ventricular trigone. (05 Mar 2000) |

| lateral aperture of the fourth ventricle | One of the two lateral openings of the fourth ventricle into the subarachnoid space at the cerebellopontine angle. Synonym: apertura lateralis ventriculi quarti, foramen lateralis ventriculi quarti, foramen of Key-Retzius, foramen of Luschka, Retzius' foramen. (05 Mar 2000) |
| lateral recess of fourth ventricle | The narrow recess of the ventricle that extends laterally over, and down along the side of, the inferior cerebellar peduncle and the overlying cochlear nuclei; at its tip it opens by way of Luschka's foramen into the interopeduncular cistern of the subarachnoid space. By way of this recess, part of the choroid plexus of the fourth ventricle protrudes into the subarachnoid space. Synonym: recessus lateralis ventriculi quarti. (05 Mar 2000) |
| lateral ventricle | A cavity shaped somewhat like a horseshoe in conformity with the general shape of the hemisphere; each lateral ventricle communicates with the third ventricle through the interventricular foramen of Monro, and expands from there forward into the frontal lobe as the anterior horn as well as caudally over the thalamus as the central part or cella media which, behind the thalamus, curves ventrally and laterally, then forward into the temporal lobe as the inferior horn; from the apex of the curve a variably sized posterior horn extends back into the white matter of the occipital lobe. The large choroid plexus of the lateral ventricle invades the cella media and the inferior horn (but not the anterior and posterior horn) from the medial side. Synonym: ventriculus lateralis, ventricle of cerebral hemisphere. (05 Mar 2000) |
| lateral cord of brachial plexus | In the brachial plexus, the bundle of nerve fibres formed by the anterior divisions of the superior and middle trunks which is located lateral to the axillary artery. This cord gives off the lateral pectoral nerve and terminates by dividing into the musculocutaneous nerve and the lateral root of the median nerve. Synonym: fasciculus lateralis plexus brachialis. (05 Mar 2000) |
| lateral mammary branches of lateral cutaneous branches of intercostal nerves | Branches arising from the lateral cutaneous branches of the ventral primary rami of spinal nerves (intercostal nerves) T-3 to T-6 which run anteriorly to supply the lateral aspect of the breast. Synonym: rami mammarii laterales rami cutanei lateralis nervorum thoracicorum, rami mammarii laterales rami cutanei lateralis nervorum intercostalium, lateral mammary branches of lateral cutaneous branches of intercostal nerves. (05 Mar 2000) |
| lateral mammary branches of lateral cutaneous branches of thoracic spinal nerves | Branches arising from the lateral cutaneous branches of the ventral primary rami of spinal nerves (intercostal nerves) T-3 to T-6 which run anteriorly to supply the lateral aspect of the breast. Synonym: rami mammarii laterales rami cutanei lateralis nervorum thoracicorum, rami mammarii laterales rami cutanei lateralis nervorum intercostalium, lateral mammary branches of lateral cutaneous branches of intercostal nerves. (05 Mar 2000) |
| lateral mammary branches of lateral thoracic artery | <anatomy, artery> Branches of the lateral thoracic artery which extend around the lateral borders of the pectoral muscles to supply the lateral aspect of the breast and mammary gland. Synonym: rami mammarii laterales arteriae thoracicae lateralis. (05 Mar 2000) |
| basal lamina of choroid | The transparent, nearly structureless inner layer of the choroid in contact with the pigmented layer of the retina. Synonym: basal lamina of choroid, basal layer of choroid, Bruch's membrane, Henle's membrane, lamina vitrea, vitreous lamella, vitreous membrane. (05 Mar 2000) |

Synonym: basal lamina of choroid, basal layer of choroid, Bruch's membrane, Henle's membrane, lamina vitrea, vitreous lamella, vitreous membrane. (05 Mar 2000) |
| vascular lamina of choroid | <anatomy> The outer portion of the choroid of the eye containing the largest blood vessels. Synonym: lamina vasculosa choroideae, Haller's vascular tissue, uvaeformis, vascular layer of choroid coat of eye, vascular layer. (05 Mar 2000) |

| choroid | <anatomy> Middle layer of the vertebrate eye, between retina and sclera. Well vascularised and also pigmented to throw light back onto the retina (the tapetum is an irridescent layer in the choroid of some eyes). Not to be confused with the choroid plexus, a highly vascularised region of the roof of the ventricles of the vertebrate brain that secretes cerebrospinal fluid. (18 Nov 1997) |
