| corpus medullare cerebelli | The interior white substance of the cerebellum. (05 Mar 2000) |
|---|---|
| cortex cerebelli | The thin gray surface layer of the cerebellum, consisting of an outer molecular layer or stratum moleculare, a single layer of Purkinje cells (the ganglionic layer), and an inner granular layer or stratum granulosum. Synonym: cortex cerebelli. (05 Mar 2000) |
| pons cerebelli | <anatomy> A rounded eminence off the ventral surface of the brainstem. The origins of cranial nerves V, VI, VII and VIII are at the border of the pons. (27 Sep 1997) |
| hemispherium cerebelli | The large part of the cerebellum lateral to the vermis cerebelli. Synonym: hemispherium cerebelli, hemispherium. (05 Mar 2000) |
| stratum gangliosum cerebelli | The layer of Purkinje cells between the molecular and granular layers of the cerebellar cortex. Synonym: stratum neuronorum piriformium, ganglionic layer of cerebellar cortex, layer of piriform neurons, Purkinje's layer, stratum gangliosum cerebelli. (05 Mar 2000) |
| stratum granulosum cerebelli | The deepest of the three layers of the cortex; it contains large numbers of granule cells, the dendrites of which synapse with incoming mossy fibres in cerebellar glomeruli. Thin, unmyelinated axons of granule cells ascend perpendicularly into the molecular layer in which they bifurcate into fibres coursing parallel to the long axis of the cerebellar folia. Parallel fibres form numerous synapses with the dendrites of Purkinje cells, basket cells, and stellate cells. Synonym: stratum granulosum cerebelli, granular layer of cerebellar cortex. (05 Mar 2000) |
| stratum moleculare cerebelli | The outer lamina of the cortex, containing the cell bodies and dendrites of Purkinje cells, the axons of the granule cells, and the cell bodies, dendrites, and axons of basket cells. Synonym: stratum moleculare cerebelli, molecular layer of cerebellar cortex. (05 Mar 2000) |
| nucleus dentatus cerebelli | The most lateral and largest of the cerebellar nuclei; it receives the axons of the Purkinje cells of the neocerebellum (lateral areas of cerebellar cortex); together with the more medially located globosus and emboliform nuclei it is the major source of fibres composing the massive superior cerebellar peduncle or brachium conjunctivum. Synonym: nucleus dentatus cerebelli, corpus dentatum, dentatum. (05 Mar 2000) |
| incisura cerebelli anterior | A wide, shallow notch on the anterior surface of the cerebellum occupied laterally by the superior cerebellar peduncles and the inferior quadrigeminal bodies medially. Synonym: anterior notch of cerebellum, incisura cerebelli anterior, semilunar notch. (05 Mar 2000) |
| incisura cerebelli posterior | A narrow notch between the cerebellar hemispheres posteriorly, occupied by the falx cerebelli. Synonym: incisura cerebelli posterior, marsupial notch, posterior notch of cerebellum. (05 Mar 2000) |
| tonsilla cerebelli | A rounded lobule on the undersurface of each cerebellar hemisphere, continuous medially with the uvula of the cerebellar vermis. Synonym: tonsilla cerebelli, amygdala cerebelli. (05 Mar 2000) |
| facies inferior hemispherii cerebelli | It rests in the posterior cranial fossa and overlies the medulla; it includes the semilunaris inferior, biventer lobule, cerebellar tonsil, and flocculus. Synonym: facies inferior hemispherii cerebelli. (05 Mar 2000) |
| facies superior hemispherii cerebelli | It lies against the under surface of the tentorium and includes the ala lobuli centralis, quadrangular lobule, simple lobule, and superior semilunar lobule. Synonym: facies superior hemispherii cerebelli. (05 Mar 2000) |
| falx cerebelli | <anatomy> A short process of dura mater projecting forward from the internal occipital crest below the tentorium; it occupies the posterior cerebellar notch and the vallecula, and bifurcates below into two diverging limbs passing to either side of the foramen magnum. Synonym: falcula. (05 Mar 2000) |
| uvula cerebelli | A triangular elevation on the vermis of the cerebellum, lying between the two tonsils anterior to the pyramis. Synonym: uvula cerebelli. (05 Mar 2000) |
