| botryoid |
A mass of elongate or acicular crystals radiating from one point into a roughly hemispherical space. The term is derived from the Greek botrys (bunch of grapes) because several botryoids grown on one surface produce an exterior resembling that of a bunch of grapes. Cf. spherulite.
