||
||
||

| band-shaped keratopathy | A horizontal, gray, interpalpebral opacity of the cornea that begins at the periphery and progresses centrally; occurs in hypercalcaemia, chronic iridocyclitis, and Still's disease. (05 Mar 2000) |
| Bechterew's band | A band of horizontal myelinated fibres in the most superficial part of the third layer of the isocortex. Synonym: Bechterew's band, layer of Bechterew, line of Bechterew, line of Kaes. (05 Mar 2000) |
| Broca's diagonal band | A white fibre bundle descending in the precommissural septum toward the base of the forebrain, immediately rostral to the lamina terminalis; at the base, the bundle turns in the caudolateral direction; traveling through a ventral stratum of the innominate substance alongside the optic tract, it fades before reaching the amygdala. (05 Mar 2000) |
| Mach's band | A relatively bright or dark band perceived in a zone where the luminance increases or decreases rapidly. (05 Mar 2000) |
| Maissiat's band | A fibrous reinforcement of the fascia lata on the lateral surface of the thigh, extending from the crest of the ilium to the lateral condyle of the tibia. Synonym: tractus iliotibialis, iliotibial band, Maissiat's band. (05 Mar 2000) |
| ventricular band of larynx | One of the pair of folds of mucous membrane stretching across the laryngeal cavity from the angle of the thyroid cartilage to the arytenoid cartilage; they enclose a space called the rima vestibuli or false glottis. Synonym: plica vestibularis, false vocal cord, plica ventricularis, ventricular band of larynx, ventricular fold. (05 Mar 2000) |
| marginal band | A bundle of equatorially located microtubules that stabilise the biconvex shape of platelets and avian erythrocytes. They are unusual in that they do not derive from the centrosomal microtubule organising centre. (18 Nov 1997) |
| Gennari's band | A prominent white line appearing in perpendicular sections of the visual cortex (Brodmann's area 17) at about mid-thickness of the cortical gray matter, corresponding to the particularly well developed outer line of Baillarger of that cortical area, and composed largely of tangentially disposed intracortical association fibres. Synonym: Gennari's band, Gennari's stria, stripe of Gennari. (05 Mar 2000) |
