  • T-Lymphocytes - »õâ Lymphocytes responsible for cell-mediated immunity. Two types have been identified - cytotoxic (T-LYMPHOCYTES, CYTOTOXIC) and helper T-lymphocytes (T-LYMPHOCYTES, HELPER-INDUCER). They are formed when lymphocytes circulate through the THYMUS GLAND and differentiate to thymocytes. When exposed to an antigen, they divide rapidly and produce large numbers of new T cells sensitized to that antigen.
    Synonyms : Lymphocyte, Thymus-Dependent, Lymphocytes, Thymus-Dependent, T Cells, T Lymphocytes, T-Cell, T-Lymphocyte, Thymus Dependent Lymphocytes, Thymus-Dependent Lymphocyte
  • T-Lymphocytes, Cytotoxic - »õâ Immunized T-lymphocytes which can directly destroy appropriate target cells. These cytotoxic lymphocytes may be generated in vitro in mixed lymphocyte cultures (MLC), in vivo during a graft-versus-host (GVH) reaction, or after immunization with an allograft, tumor cell or virally transformed or chemically modified target cell. The lytic phenomenon is sometimes referred to as cell-mediated lympholysis (CML). These CD8-positive cells are distinct from natural killer cells (KILLER CELLS, NATURAL) and from KILLER CELLS mediating antibody-dependent cell cytotoxicity. There are two effector phenotypes: TC1 and TC2.
Synonyms : Cell Mediated Lympholytic Cells, Cell, Cell-Mediated Lympholytic, Cell, TC1, Cell, TC2, Cell-Mediated Lympholytic Cell, Cells, Cell-Mediated Lympholytic, Cells, TC1, Cells, TC2, Cytotoxic T Lymphocytes, Cytotoxic T-Lymphocyte, Lympholytic Cell, Cell-Mediated
  • T-Lymphocytes, Helper-Inducer - »õâ Subpopulation of CD4+ lymphocytes that cooperate with other lymphocytes (either T or B) to initiate a variety of immune functions. For example, helper-inducer T-cells cooperate with B-cells to produce antibodies to thymus-dependent antigens and with other subpopulations of T-cells to initiate a variety of cell-mediated immune functions.
    Synonyms : Helper T-Cells, Helper Cell, Helper Inducer T Lymphocytes, Helper T Cells, Helper T-Cell, Helper T-Lymphocyte, Helper T-Lymphocytes, Helper-Inducer T-Cell, Helper-Inducer T-Cells, Helper-Inducer T-Lymphocyte, Inducer Cell, Inducer T-Lymphocyte, T-Cell, Helper
  • T-Lymphocytes, Regulatory - »õâ CD4-positive T cells that inhibit immunopathology or autoimmune disease in vivo. These include naturally occurring CD4+CD25+ Treg cells, IL-10 secreting Tr1 cells, and Th3 cells.
Synonyms : Regulatory T-Cells, Tr1 Cells, Treg Cells, Cell, Th3, Cell, Tr1, Cell, Treg, Cells, Th3, Cells, Tr1, Cells, Treg, Regulatory T Cells, Regulatory T Lymphocytes, Regulatory T-Lymphocyte, Suppressor Cell, T Cells, Regulatory, T Lymphocytes, Regulatory, Th3 Cell, Tr1 Cell
  • T-Lymphocytopenia, Idiopathic CD4-Positive - »õâ Reproducible depletion of CD4+ lymphocytes below 300 per cubic millimeter in the absence of HIV infection or other known causes of immunodeficiency. This is a rare, heterogeneous syndrome and does not appear to be caused by a transmissible agent.
    Synonyms : CD4+ T-Lymphocytopenia, CD4+ T-Lymphocytopenia, Idiopathic, Idiopathic CD4+ T-Lymphocytopenia, T-Lymphocytopenia, Idiopathic CD4+, CD4 Positive T Lymphocytopenia, Idiopathic, CD4+ T Lymphocytopenia, CD4+ T Lymphocytopenia, Idiopathic, CD4+ T-Lymphocytopenias
