paciniform c.’s rapidly adapting lamellar nerve endings (corpuscula lamellosa) that are more elongated and have fewer laminae than pacinian corpuscles; found in the vibrissae and epidermis of the nose, in joint capsules, in aponeuroses, and at myotendinous junctions associated with Golgi tendon organs. They respond to muscle stretch and light pressure. Called also paciniform receptors.
