A hormone produced by glands in the neck. PTH controls the rate at which old bone is broken down and replaced with new bone. In kidney failure, PTH can become overactive, so that bones become brittle or weak.

Plated Through Hole A manufacturing method used in multi-layer PCBs to connect layers together. A layer of copper is deposited on the inside of a hole to make contact with any layers which come to the edge of the hole. The hole may be part of an IC site or a VIA hole created solely for the purpose of connecting between layers. See also: PCB, VIA
