| nocardiaceae | A family of gram-positive, aerobic actinomycetes found in soil and animal tissue. Some species are the cause of infection in man and animals. (12 Dec 1998) |
|---|---|
| nocardiasis | <disease> Infection by any species of the bacteria Nocardia. Often affects the lungs and may be confused with tuberculosis. (27 Sep 1997) |
| nocardioform | Denoting an organism that morphologically and culturally resembles members of the genus Nocardia. (05 Mar 2000) |
| nocardioform group | A group of actinomycetes that forms mycelia that break up into rod-shaped or coccoid elements. Certain genera in this group are pathogenic to man. (12 Dec 1998) |
| nocardiosis | <disease> Infection by any species of the bacteria Nocardia. Often affects the lungs and may be confused with tuberculosis. (27 Sep 1997) |

| Nocardiopsis |
a genus of soil bacteria of the family Nocardiaceae, order Actinomycetales, consisting of gram-positive, aerobic, nonacid-fast organisms that form filaments. The organisms resemble Nocardia but differ in cell wall type and are not resistant to lysozymes. They are potential pathogens, causing abscesses and pulmonary lesions. N. dassonvil´lei can sometimes cause actinomycotic mycetoma.
