| infantile beriberi | Beriberi appearing in a breast-fed infants whose mother has beriberi due to thiamin deficiency. It is mainly the "wet" form of beriberi, characterised by heart failure with marked peripheral oedema (which is otherwise unusual in heart failure in infancy).
