| 설명 | 세균의 대사에 의해 생산되며 균체 밖으로 내보내는 단백질성 독소이며, 생체에 해롭게 작용한다. 대개는 열민감성이지만 열안정성인 것도 있다. 독소의 합성에 관한 유전자는 염색체성인 것, 파지, 또는 플라스미드에 의한 것이 있다. 독소는 그 작용메커니즘에 따라 신경독소, 창자독소, 세포독소로 분류되며 또한 마비독소, 구토독소, 설사독소, 용혈독소, 백혈구독소 등으로 불린다. 변형독소화에 의해 독성의 상실과 항원성의 유지가 가능하며 백신으로서 이용된다. 외독소의 주된 것은 콜레라독소, 독소원성 대장균의 열민감성 엔테로톡신, 열안정성 엔테로톡신, 장염 비브리오 용혈독, 포도알균 장관독소, 보툴리누스독소, 사슬알균 발적독소, 디프테리아독소, 백일해독소, 파상풍독소, 표피박탈 독소, TSS-1, 대장균 O-157의 배로독소(VT1, VT2)등이 있다. 내독소에 비해 독성이 높다. 외독소를 포르말린 처리로 무독화한 것을 톡소이드라고 하며, 이것은 주사를 해도 안전하며 독소에 대한 능동면역을 부여하는데 이용된다. |
