Abbreviation for dynamic random access memory. A type of RAM that stores information in integrated circuits containing capacitors. Since capacitors lose their charge over time, DRAM boards include logic to recharge, or "refresh," the RAM chips continuously. Since their internal circuitry is simple, DRAMs are more commonly used than static RAMs, even though they are slower. Dynamic Random Access Memory (see also SDRAM). A type of memory used in a PC for the main memory (such as your "32 Mbytes of RAM".) "Dynamic" refers to the memory's memory of storage - basically storing the charge on a capacitor.
