| Cushing's syndrome |
results from hypersecretion of the adrenal cortex, within which there is excessive production of glucocorticoids. It may be caused by hyperfunction of anterior pituitary or tumor of the adrenal gland. The syndrome is characterized by symptoms related to protein loss, and adiposity, fatigue, and weakness.
