CABG An operation which uses arteries and or veins to bypass narrowings or occlusions in the coronary arteries. This is usually done using the heart lung machine but can be done with the heart beating (see OPCAB ).

CABG When one or more coronary arteries is blocked or severely narrowed, you may need coronary bypass surgery. A vein from your leg or an artery from your arm or chest can be attached to the blocked artery to bypass the blockage. The blood can then use this bypass to once again flow freely to the heart.
