Invented in 1984 by two Stanford University researchers and introduced in 1986 by Cisco Systems, it was the first multi-protocol router. Early features included 1 MB of memory and connection support for Ethernet and ARPAnet - the predecessor of the Internet.

The AGS offers courses on diamond appraising and just a few years ago opened its own laboratories introducing also its own certificate called "diamond quality document".

Franks suit was not acceptable operationally because it was water filled, but it laid the groundwork for what was to follow.
