| velocity |
A directed vector with magnitude. The time rate of change of position of a body (or particle) with respect to another body (or particle). Hence, in a universe of n particles every particle has exactly n-1 velocities of which it is only possible to observe one velocity. However, n-2 other velocities of a particular particle continue to exist and are properly interpretable as velocity potentials or vector potentials.

| velocity |
The velocity of an object refers to the speed and direction in which it moves. If you drive north to your work place and your speedometer reads 35 miles per hour, then your velocity is 35 miles per hour in a northward direction. Velocity is speed with a direction and is important in understanding bumper car collisions.
