fibrous Needlelike; straight and much longer in one direction than in the other two. Defined by some (eg Gonz?ez et al. (1993)) as 6 to 10 times as long as wide; by others simply as >6 times as long as wide. A common morphology of aragonite but a possible morphology of calcite. Cf. acicular and bladed.
