point of service A product which, in one Benefit Plan, combines Indemnity benefits and Managed Care Plan benefits. These plans typically include a network of participating providers and other policies of a Managed Care Plan, but also include Indemnity benefits for those patients receiving services from non-participating providers. Note that the benefit level changes when the patient selects a non-participating provider, and thus the patient typically has higher financial responsibility.
