inflammation of the foot of a cow or bull, with dermatitis between the digits, lameness, fever, swelling of the coronet, and necrotic foul-smelling material around the lesion. It is thought to be caused by infection with Fusobacterium necrophorum. Called also bovine foot r., foul in the foot, interdigital necrobacillosis, and pododermatitis.

a noncontagious foot infection of pigs, usually caused by Fusobacterium necrophorum or Corynebacterium pyogenes that invades through lesions on lateral digits of the hind legs, often after trauma such as from living in a pen with a hard or abrasive floor. Abscess formation is followed by lameness and sometimes permanent foot deformity. Called also porcine foot r.
