| AMA |
An AMA is a discrete area set aside in the regional coastal plan for the specific purpose of aquaculture. Other activities will only be allowed in an AMA if they are compatible with aquaculture. Aquaculture in the coastal marine area can only occur within an AMA and will require a resource consent.
