| transcortical aphasia |
a type of conduction aphasia believed to be caused by a lesion of a pathway between the speech center and other cortical centers, but often reflecting large lesions in brain areas other than the perisylvian region of the hemisphere dominant for speech and language. The patient may repeat words (echolalia) but cannot speak independently.
