There are 2 basic types of silicone molding compounds. Tin based and platinum based. Tin based silicones are simple catalyst systems that cures based on a typical 10% addition of accelerator. The rubber itself is very durable with high tensile strength and many copies can be cast from a silicone mold. A platinum silicone is a high grade compound specially designed for specific uses and applications.
