Jing, Shen, and Qi describe three concepts of energy in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Shen is known as the psyche, mind, or spirit; it is said to be the driving energy behind activities that take place in the mental, spiritual, or creative planes. It is thought that weakened shen often manifests itself as anxiety, mild depression, or chronic restlessness.
