[TA] spinal nucleus of trigeminal nerve: a column of cells that lies along the medial aspect of the spinal tract, extending from the level of entry of the trigeminal nerve in the pons to the second cervical segment of the spinal cord, where it is continuous with the dorsal gray column. The nucleus has several cytoarchitectonic subdivisions and the fibers of the spinal tract end in it. Called also inferior n. of trigeminal nerve, n. inferior nervi trigeminalis, inferior or lower sensory n. of trigeminal nerve, and n. of spinal tract of trigeminal nerve.
