LDL or "bad" cholesterol contains more fat and less protein than HDL. LDL is unstable and tends to fall apart. They stick to artery walls and contribute to plaque build-up, and as a result, high levels of LDL cholesterol have been associated with hardened arteries and coronary artery disease.
