EST is a portion of cDNA that has been sequenced from one or both ends of the DNA. The human genome project allows for the generation of thousands of EST clones that may be ordered from the Integrated Molecular Analysis of Genome Expression consortium to be used in gene expression profiling using cDNA technology.
