| mixed t., malignant |
a type of malignant pleomorphic adenoma usually occurring in the salivary glands of older adults in one of two forms: in the first both epithelial and mesenchymal components are malignant and may metastasize (carcinosarcoma) and in the second a histologically benign appearance persists in both the primary tumor and metastatic foci. The term is sometimes used synonymously with carcinoma ex pleomorphic adenoma or with the more general term malignant pleomorphic adenoma.
