A liquid-like material which has crystal-like characteristics such as an anisotropic optical refraction index, within a certain temperature range. Classified as nematic liquid crystal, smectic liquid crystal or chlorosteric liquid crystal, according to molecular arrangement. The nematic liquid crystal is currently the most frequently used.
