Flash on the Web is displayed by a browser plug-in. Non-Web presentations are run by a Flash player, included on a floppy or CD-ROM. Flashcan be used to create vector-based graphics in one or more timelines that provide a sequential path for actions.

While Flash has grown considerably in sophistication, it still presents accessibility issues for many users. Because it is proprietary, it requires a helper application to view the content, the macromedia shockwave player, which can be downloaded from the macromedia web site.
