  • Pregnancy-Associated Plasma Protein-A - »õâ A product of the PLACENTA, and DECIDUA, secreted into the maternal circulation during PREGNANCY. It has been identified as an IGF binding protein (IGFBP)-4 protease that proteolyzes IGFBP-4 and thus increases IGF bioavailability. It is found also in human FIBROBLASTS, ovarian FOLLICULAR FLUID, and GRANULOSA CELLS. The enzyme is a heterotetramer of about 500-kDa.
Synonyms : IGFBP-4 Metalloproteinase, IGFBP-4 Protease, IGFBP-4-Specific Proteinase, Insulin-Like Growth Factor-Dependent IGF Binding Protein-4 Protease, Insulin-Like-Growth Factor Binding Protein-4 Protease, PAPP-alpha, Pregnancy Associated alpha Plasma Protein
  • Pregnancy-Specific beta 1-Glycoproteins - »õâ Glycoproteins with the electrophoretic mobility of BETA-GLOBULINS, secreted by the placental TROPHOBLASTS into the maternal bloodstream during PREGNANCY. They can be detected 18 days after OVULATION and reach 200 mg/ml at the end of pregnancy. They are associated with fetal well-being.
    Synonyms : PAPP-B, PAPP-C, PSBG-1, Pregnancy Specific beta 1 Glycoprotein, Pregnancy Specific beta-1 Glycoprotein, Pregnancy Specific beta1-Glycoprotein., Pregnancy-Associated Plasma Protein B, Pregnancy-Associated Plasma Protein C, Pregnancy-Specific beta-1 Globulin
  • Pregnanediol - »õâ An inactive metabolite of PROGESTERONE by reduction at C5, C3, and C20 position. Pregnanediol has two hydroxyl groups, at 3-alpha and 20-alpha. It is detectable in URINE after OVULATION and is found in great quantities in the pregnancy urine.
    Synonyms :
  • Pregnanediones - »õâ Pregnane derivatives in which two side-chain methyl groups or two methylene groups in the ring skeleton (or a combination thereof) have been oxidized to keto groups.
    Synonyms : Dioxopregnanes
  • Pregnanes - »õâ Saturated derivatives of the steroid pregnane. The 5-beta series includes PROGESTERONE and related hormones; the 5-alpha series includes forms generally excreted in the urine.
