This enzyme activates cobalamin-dependent methionine synthase. Methionine synthase is involved in processing amino acids (the building blocks of proteins). Specifically, it carries out a chemical reaction that converts the amino acid homocysteine to another amino acid, methionine. Methionine is used by the body to make proteins and other important compounds.
