compound muscle action potentials evoked in the orbicularis oculi muscles by stimulation of the skin innervated by the supraorbital nerve. An early response (the R1 wave) occurs on the same side as the stimulation and a later response (the R2 wave) occurs on both sides along with a twitch of both orbicularis oculi muscles. Called also blink reflexes.
