A mediator is someone who intervenes, someone who conveys and conciliates. The word "mediator" is not found in the OT, but its principle is. God gave the Law to the people through a mediator, Moses (Gal. 3:19), who was a type of the true mediator, Jesus. The word occurs only a few times in the NT: 1 Tim. 2:5; Heb. 8:6; 9:15; 12:24.
