Linear regression is a regression where the dependent variable is modelled as a linear combination of the dependent variables plus the error term. The simplest case is simple linear regression where there is only one dependent variable. Here the relationship is: y = a + bx + u, where a is a constant; b is the regression coefficient and u is the error or disturbance term.

The average amount of energy lost per unit of distance travelled. Gamma rays are low LET radiations, because they blast through you without losing much of their energy; where they do lose energy through collisions with matter in your body the ionisations are well spread out along the length of the radiation track - in other words, what's low is the energy density. Alpha particles are high LET, since they lose all their energy within a few microns and the density of ionisations is high.
