| digitalis g. |
any of a number of cardiotonic and antiarrhythmic glycosides derived from Digitalis purpurea and D. lanata, consisting of a steroid nucleus with an α, β-unsaturated lactone ring attached at the C-17 position and a digitoxose moiety attached at C-3. The term is often used to denote any drug chemically and pharmacologically related to these glycosides, although not all are derived from Digitalis (e.g., ouabain); in this case it is equivalent to cardiac g.
