Daniel was a Hebrew of the southern kingdom of Judah who was taken to Babylon to live as an exile at the time of the conquest of Judah by King Nebuchadnezzar. When God gave him the interpretation of the king's dream, he became an adviser to Nebuchadnezzar and subsequent rulers. The book in the Old Testament bearing his name, tells his story and details of the visions he received.
