| sclerotherapy |
this therapy is used in the treatment of a vascular malformation. A toxic substance, usually 95% ethanol, is injected directly into the lesion from several different locations. This causes the clotting and shrinkage of the vessels. There can be side effects and several treatments may be necessary. Anesthesia is often required.
