fructose-1,6-bisphosphatase deficiency an autosomal recessive disorder marked by apnea, hyperventilation, hypoglycemia, ketosis, and lactic acidosis resulting from impaired gluconeogenesis due to deficiency of hepatic fructose-1,6-bisphosphatase; it may be fatal to newborns, but patients past early childhood develop normally.
