A name for a chemical compound that is formed from reaction between a carboxylic acid and an alcohol. Much of the testosterone that is prescribed for the purposes of hormone therapy is in the form of esters. The most commonly prescribed testosterone esters in the United States for FTM hormone therapy are testosterone cypionate and testosterone enanthate.
