| atrophoderma of Pasini and Pierini |
a condition most commonly occurring on the trunk, especially the back, of young women, characterized by the development of soft, bluish brown to violaceous atrophic plaques with central induration that resemble the lesions of the late stages of morphea. The etiology is unknown, and it usually resolves spontaneously after months or years. Two types have been suggested: one idiopathic and one closely related to or the same as morphea.
