subscapular group of axillary lymph nodes Node's of the axillary region located along the subscapular vein and its tributaries; they receive afferent vessels from the dorsal surface of the thorax and scapular region, and send efferent vessels to the central group of lymph nodes.
Synonym: nodi lymphatici axillares subscapulares, posterior group of axillary lymph nodes.

superficial inguinal lymph nodes A group of 12 to 20 nodes that lie in the subcutaneous tissue below the inguinal ligament and along the terminal part of the great saphenous vein; they drain the skin and subcutaneous tissue of the lower abdominal wall, perineum, buttock, external genitalia, and lower limb; they are subdivided into three groups: inferior (vertical) group of superficial inguinal lymph nodes, located inferior to the saphenous opening receiving drainage of the lower limb; superolateral (lateral horizontal) superfical inguinal lymph nodes located lateral to the saphenous opening receiving drainage of lateral buttock and lower anterior abdominal wall; and superomedial (medial horizontal) superficial inguinal lymph nodes, located medial to the saphenous opening, receiving drainage of the perineum and external genitalia.
Synonym: nodi lymphatici inguinales superficiales.

Synonym: nodi lymphatici gastrici sinistri, superior gastric lymph nodes.
(05 Mar 2000)
superior mesenteric lymph nodes The numerous nodes located in the mesentery along the superior mesenteric artery; they receive lymph from the central mesenteric lymph nodes and drain into the intestinal lymph trunk.
Synonym: nodi lymphatici mesenterici superiores, nodi lymphatici centrales.

superior phrenic lymph nodes Three groups of small nodes, anterior, middle, and posterior, on the upper surface of the diaphragm; they receive afferents from the liver, diaphragm, and intercostal spaces and send efferents to parasternal and posterior mediastinal nodes.
Synonym: nodi lymphatici phrenici superiores, diaphragmatic nodes.

superior tracheobronchial lymph nodes Several large lymph nodes of the posterior mediastinal group located superior to the bronchi at their union with the trachea; receives lymph from inferior tracheobronchial lymph nodes and bronchopulmonary nodes; drain to paratracheal nodes.
Synonym: nodi lymphatici tracheobronchiales superiores.
(05 Mar 2000)
deep inguinal lymph nodes Several small nodes deep to the fascia lata and medial to the femoral vein; they receive lymph from the deep structures of the lower limb, from the glans penis and from superficial inguinal nodes; efferents pass to the external iliac nodes.
Synonym: nodi lymphatici inguinales profundi.
(05 Mar 2000)
deep parotid lymph nodes The group of lymph nodes associated with the parotid gland lying deep to the parotid masseteric fascia.
Synonym: nodi lymphatici parotidei profundi.

supraclavicular lymph nodes The portion of the inferior deep cervical group located between the inferior belly of the omohyoid muscle and the clavicle; afferent vessels come from adjacent regions including the mediastinum; efferent vessels terminate in the subclavian trunk.
Synonym: nodi lymphatici supraclaviculares.

Synonym: nodi lymphatici ileocolici.
(05 Mar 2000)
inferior epigastric lymph nodes Three or four nodes placed along the inferior epigastric vessels; they receive afferents from the lower abdominal wall and empty into the external iliac nodes.
Synonym: nodi lymphatici epigastrici inferiores.
