| contraction stress test |
a test where the baby's heart rate response to oxytocin is measured. The mother is given some intravenous oxytocin and the baby is monitored via electronic fetal monitors to check the response. Must be performed where all parties can be carefully monitored should fetal distress or true labor be triggered.
