  • Pyroglobulins - »õâ Atypical gamma immunoglobulins characterized by their irreversible heat denaturation at 56-degrees C. Pyroprecipitation is inhibited at pH below 3 and above 9. The presence of pyroglobulins in the serum is the cause of pyroglobulinemia. They are frequently present in multiple myeloma and the pyroglobulin precipitate binds complement, reacts with rheumatoid factor, produces passive cutaneous anaphylaxis, generalized passive anaphylaxis and passive Arthus-type phenomena.
    Synonyms :
  • Pyroglutamate Hydrolase - »õâ Hydrolyzes pyroglutamic acid in the presence of ATP to glutamate plus ADP and inorganic phosphate. Deficiency leads to pyroglutamic acidurea.
    Synonyms : 5-Oxoprolinase, 5 Oxoprolinase, Hydrolase, Pyroglutamate
  • Pyroglutamyl-Peptidase I - »õâ An enzyme that catalyzes the release of a N-terminal pyroglutamyl group from a polypeptide provided the next residue is not proline. It is inhibited by thiol-blocking reagents and occurs in mammalian tissues, microorganisms, and plants. (From Enzyme Nomenclature, 1992) EC 3.4.19.3.
Synonyms : Pyroglutamyl-Peptide Hydrolase, 5 Oxoprolyl Peptidase, Aminopeptidase, Pyroglutamate, I, Pyroglutamyl-Peptidase, Peptidase, Pyrrolidonecarboxylate, Peptidase, Pyrrolidonyl, Pyroglutamyl Peptidase I, Pyroglutamyl Peptide Hydrolase
  • Pyroglyphidae - »õâ Family of house dust mites, in the superfamily Analgoidea, order Astigmata. They include the genera Dermatophagoides and Euroglyphus.
    Synonyms : Euroglyphus, Housedust Mites
  • Pyrola - »õâ A plant genus of the family PYROLACEAE. The common name of wintergreen is more often used for GAULTHERIA.
