Pretty Good Privacy (PGP) is a commonly used encryption system developed by Philip Zimmermann. It allows users to send files or messages in privacy. PGP uses the "public key" approach; messages are encrypted using a "public" key, but can only be decrypted by a "private" key, retained by the intended recipient of the message.
