a lysosomal storage disease of ceramide metabolism due to defective ceramidase and marked by hoarseness, aphonia, and a brownish desquamating dermatitis beginning at about three months of age, followed by foam cell infiltration of bones and joints, resulting in deformations; granulomatous reaction in lymph nodes, heart, lungs, and kidneys, and psychomotor retardation. Called also Farber's lipogranulomatosis, and ceramidase deficiency.
