DDT Dichloro-diphenyl-trichloroethane is a colorless crystalline organochloride insecticide. DDT has a history of poisoning both wildlife and the environment. Accumulation of DDT in the environment has led to a decline in raptor populations. Many birds, including the bald eagle, were placed on the endangered species list. DDT accumulates through the food chain so apex predators like the raptors have a higher concentration of the chemical than other animals sharing the same environment.
