coracoacromial ligament <anatomy> The heavy arched fibrous band that passes between the coracoid process and the acromion above the shoulder joint; the osseofibrous arch thus formed prevents upward dislocation of the shoulder (glanohumeral) joint.
Synonym: ligamentum coracoacromiale.
(05 Mar 2000)
coracoclavicular ligament <anatomy> The strong ligament that unites the clavicle to the coracoid process; it is subdivided into the conoid ligamentum and the trapezoid ligamentum. The free upper limb is passively suspended from the clavicular "strut" by the coracoclavicular ligament; the ligament also plays an important role in preventing dislocation of the acromioclavicular joint.
Synonym: ligamentum coracoclaviculare, Caldani's ligament.
(05 Mar 2000)
coracohumeral ligament The ligament that passes from the base of the coracoid process to the greater tubercle of the humerus.
Synonym: ligamentum coracohumerale.
(05 Mar 2000)
corniculopharyngeal ligament <anatomy> An elastic band connecting the tip of the corniculate (Santorini's) cartilage and the lamina of the cricoid cartilage and continuing into the pharyngeal mucosa covering the cricoid lamina.
Synonym: ligamentum cricopharyngeum, corniculopharyngeal ligament, cricosantorinian ligament, jugal ligament, ligamentum corniculopharyngeum, ligamentum jugale.

coronary ligament of knee Portions of the articular capsule of the knee joint which connect the circumference of the menisci with the margins of the condyles of the tibia.
(05 Mar 2000)
coronary ligament of liver Peritoneal reflections from the liver to the diaphragm at the margins of the bare area of the liver.
Synonym: ligamentum coronarium hepatis.
(05 Mar 2000)
costoclavicular ligament <anatomy> The ligament that connects the first rib and the clavicle near its sternal end; limits elavation of shoulder (at sternoclavicular joint).
Synonym: ligamentum costoclaviculare, rhomboid ligament.
(05 Mar 2000)
costocolic ligament <anatomy> A triangular fold of peritoneum attached to the left flexure of the colon and to the diaphragm, on which rests the inferior pole or extremity of the spleen.
Synonym: ligamentum phrenicocolicum, costocolic ligament.
(05 Mar 2000)
costotransverse ligament <anatomy> The ligament that connects the dorsal aspect of the neck of a rib to the ventral aspect of the corresponding transverse process.
Synonym: ligamentum costotransversarium, ligamentum colli costae, middle costotransverse ligament.
(05 Mar 2000)
costoxiphoid ligament <anatomy> The ligament that connects the xiphoid process to the seventh, and often to the sixth, costal cartilages.
Synonym: ligamentum costoxiphoideum, chondroxiphoid ligament.
(05 Mar 2000)
cotyloid ligament A fibrocartilaginous rim attached to the margin of the acetabulum of the hip bone.
Synonym: labrum acetabulare, acetabular lip, circumferential cartilage, cotyloid ligament, ligamentum cotyloideum.
(05 Mar 2000)
Cowper's ligament <anatomy> The part of the fascia lata which is anterior to and provides origin for fibres of the pectineus muscle.
(05 Mar 2000)
cricopharyngeal ligament <anatomy> An elastic band connecting the tip of the corniculate (Santorini's) cartilage and the lamina of the cricoid cartilage and continuing into the pharyngeal mucosa covering the cricoid lamina.
Synonym: ligamentum cricopharyngeum, corniculopharyngeal ligament, cricosantorinian ligament, jugal ligament, ligamentum corniculopharyngeum, ligamentum jugale.
(05 Mar 2000)
cricosantorinian ligament <anatomy> An elastic band connecting the tip of the corniculate (Santorini's) cartilage and the lamina of the cricoid cartilage and continuing into the pharyngeal mucosa covering the cricoid lamina.
Synonym: ligamentum cricopharyngeum, corniculopharyngeal ligament, cricosantorinian ligament, jugal ligament, ligamentum corniculopharyngeum, ligamentum jugale.
(05 Mar 2000)
cricothyroid ligament <anatomy> The strong band that connects the cricoid and thyroid cartilages in the midline anteriorly; it is continuous posteriorly with the conus elasticus.
Synonym: conus elasticus, ligamentum cricothyroideum.
